Protective Award Claims for Go-Centric Employees

It hit the news on Friday 2nd December that Go-Centric had ceased trading immediately. The business let staff go on Thursday 1st December, which we believe has affected around 600 jobs.

We're told that staff were called to a meeting for a 'business update' on 1st December where they were told of their redundancy, leaving them with no job just weeks before Christmas.

The company, a 'business process outsourcer', were based in Glasgow and are thought to have let staff go just hours after a refinancing deal fell through.

The Go-Centric website homepage now shows a message to announce that the business has ceased trading, and states "Please be assured we are doing everything we can to save jobs and will continue to explore all available opportunities in the coming days.".

Being made redundant without notice, weeks before Christmas, as well as being in a cost of living crisis could be devastating for all of the staff affected.

What is a Protective Award Claim?

When an employer makes more than 20 staff redundant at one location, they legally have to consult with either a recognised trade union or elected employee representatives. If Go-Centric did not comply with this obligation, and you were made redundant without notice, you may be entitled to claim compensation by bringing a claim for a protective award to the Employment Tribunal.
